With the Ability First Sports Adaptive youth camp behind us, it’s important to look back and reflect on how impactful and meaningful this program is for the campers who participate. As mentioned in previous blog posts and social media pages, Ability First Sports holds an adaptive youth summer camp each year that aims to provide instruction and coaching to youth with physical disabilities through sports. This year was one of the best yet with over 30 campers attending camp and reaping the benefits of first-class coaching through both sports and overall life lessons.
The coaches for Ability First are Paralympic and professional athletes from all over the world who volunteer their time to show that having a disability does not limit your opportunities in sports. Tagging along to a few of the events during the week of camp is truly inspiring as coaches, volunteers, parents, and the public all come to cheer on the athletes as they show off their skills in events such as a rugby tournament, skit night, and tennis.
